This three tier wooden house on wheels is part of an ongoing series exploring the fusion of my hand drawn illustration work and 3d making. The process allows me to bring together my traditional studio practice with contemporary digital technology, creating objects that sit somewhere between small scale sculpture and architectural model making.
The imagery is layered over the top of hand painted colour blocking which wraps around the building, revealing fragments of windows, staircases, textures and patterns. The wheels add a sense of narrative. No two models are ever the same and each piece has its own composition, colour palette and character. Window details include frames and fine cut internal window banding which is added durning assembly. Some of the roofs are painted with stripes of colour whilst others have been adorned with aged gold leaf.
Designed as a small sculptural object, this house can be displayed on a shelf, desk or mantelpiece where its details can be appreciated from every angle. It is equally at home in a contemporary interior, a collection of art objects or as a gift for someone who appreciates handmade design. This piece is not a toy.
