The brief for this project was to design something versatile, a structure that could be set up in different locations and used as a welcoming space for people to come together, share stories and talk about their experiences of the local area. The result was a ten foot geodesic dome, both striking and functional, designed to bring people together in conversation. Around the structure, I created a series of inset graphic panels, each one capturing a different aspect of the town of Flint, twelve in total, celebrating its history, people, and sense of community. The imagery was created from hundreds if not thousands of photographs that were shared as part of the Heritage Lottery funded “Off Flint” project. The dome spent around six months in the local library and is now housed in a local school for students with additional needs.
