I’ve always had a real love of pattern, mark making and the built environment. The collection of drawings shown below spans several years from 2020 to the present day. They reflect an ongoing exploration of imaginary buildings and spaces inspired by mid-century modernist design. Each piece begins with a drawing made using a fineliner or fountain pen. Once the initial drawing is complete, I scan it and carefully add colour digitally, building up layers and textures to bring the imagined structures to life. This process allows me to combine the tactile quality of traditional drawing with the precision and vibrancy of digital illustration, resulting in work that feels both playful and considered. It is these drawings that I often use to create pattern within my more recent laser cut model making work.
